Webinars, Workshops, and Events
This webinar, a partnership of Second Nature and the American Meteorological Society (AMS), aims to promote the importance of basic climate science education at all colleges and universities. Join us for an overview of the opportunities offered by both the AMS Climate Studies Diversity Project and the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) to minority-serving institutions (MSIs) nationwide.
Using the city of Atlanta as a case study, the panel will look at how their college and university are meeting the needs of current students and community members, as well as future generations through wellness programs, transportation initiatives, agricultural relationships and regional collaboratives, among other efforts.
This webinar will address questions such as: What are the current impacts, and the plausible climate impacts in the next few decades to century? What is the National Climate Assessment and how were these scenarios produced? Where can the scenarios be found and how can/should you use them? How do the scenarios specifically relate to Higher Education?
The National Climate Assessment Development and Advisory Committee has recommended the development of an ongoing, sustained national assessment of global change impacts and adaptation and mitigation strategies for the nation this year. Higher education has a unique and important role to play in ensuring the success of a sustained assessment. A panel of primary authors of this report will summarize the report's findings and recommendations for policy, higher education, and climate leaders.
The theme for the upcoming Campus Sustainability Day is “Climate Adaptation: Resilient Campuses & Communities.” Campuses are invited to join this webcast for a discussion from higher education and climate leaders on the role of campuses in adapting to a changing climate, innovations in climate resilience and mitigation, and community partnerships.
